Ride the e-bike to see the glacier of South Greenland
2025 is our first year branding our new product the e-mountain bike! Our area has one single dirt road of about 100km in length and is the perfect place to ride a bike. You will ride by norse ruins and inuit ruins in this beautiful sheep farming area that is also a part of the UNESCO world heritage. The dirt road will lead you to see the icebergs floating in the sea, the wildlife living peacefully together with farm animals out in the free, and the dirt road will also lead you very close to the glacier - if you go a bit further away from the dirt road, you will reach the amazing, fierce full and majestic part of our land: the glacier
There are various places you can ride to see some beautiful spots with view over the sea with icebergs. You can stay some nights at the village Qassiarsuk in our Hostel with a private room where you can also eat your breakfast and dinner. During the day you can explore the land area and eat your lunch in the mountains.

An unforgettable experience in Greenland
Introduction:
Welcome to a unique adventure in the heart of Greenland! This EMTB (Electric Mountain
Bike) package tour in the Qassiarsuk area is designed for those who want to experience
the pristine nature and rich cultural heritage that this fascinating region has to offer. With
electric mountain bikes, participants can explore the breathtaking scenery with ease and
comfort.
Highlights of the tour
1. Qassiarsuk - A Historic Village: Discover the small, charming village of Qassiarsuk,
which is known for its historical significance as one of the first Norse colonies in
Greenland, founded by the Viking Erik the Red. Visit reconstructions of Norse farms
and learn about their fascinating lives.
2. Igaliku and the surrounding area: A hidden gem: Explore the beautiful village of
Igaliku, known for its green meadows and historic ruins. The settlement was
founded by the Norsemen in the 12th century. It was an important religious and
administrative centre. The bike tour takes you through lush landscapes and along
crystal clear fjords, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stunning
views. Igaliku is also home to some of Greenlands oldest archaeological finds,
which provide a fascinating insight into the countrys past.
3. During the bike ride, participants can also experience Greenlands wildlife and
spectacular nature. From the majestic icebergs floating quietly in the fjords to the
winding roads leading through lush, green valleys, the tour offers a rich variety of
scenic views. It is not unusual to spot grazing sheep or to see a proud eagle soaring
high above the landscape. In addition, you may be lucky enough to come across
free-roaming horses that add to the areas authentic charm.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Qassiarsuk
1. Arrive at Narsarsuaq International Airport, from where there is a boat transfer to
Qassiarsuk (approx. 10 minutes).
2. After arriving in Qassiarsuk, you will have time to familiarize yourself with the
surroundings and hand over your equipment.
3. Short bike rides in the area to get used to the terrain and try out the equipment.
4. Overnight in Riding Greenland hostel, where you can enjoy the local Greenlandic
gastronomy.
Day 2: Trip to Sermilik Fjord.
1. Todays tour will take you to the Sermilik Fjord: on the way there, we will cycle
through the farm Tasiusaq and then cycle along a beach with spectacular views of
the ice fjord and icebergs. Todays goal is to reach Ipiitaq, where there is a fantastic
view of the ice sheet, where the many ice mountains come from.
2. The terrain is a mix of gravel roads, trails, single tracks and a bit of technical driving.
3. Return to Qassiarsuk. Approx. 35km. up 600m. down 600m.
Day 3: Nunataaq
1. The tour starts in Qassiarsuk, you follow the dirt road out of the village and to the
southwest. The first part of the trip is relatively flat and follows the dirt road through
the open countryside. You pass small streams and green valleys, where sheep and
horses often graze. Gradually, the terrain becomes hillier, and you will encounter
some hills that require a little extra energy. The views are becoming more and more
spectacular, with mountains on one side and the fjord on the other. As you
approach Nunataaq, the terrain becomes a little more technical with narrow paths.
You will pass small lakes and wetlands that add extra charm to the landscape.
1. If you have energy left, you can take a small detour and explore more trails in the
area.
2. Distance: Ca. 25-30 km
3. Time: 4-6 hours
4. Terrain: A mix of gravel roads, trails, hills and a bit of technical driving. The terrain
can be varied but manageable for intermediate level cyclists.
5. Up. 1000m down 1000m
Day 4: Qassiarsuk-Naajat
The tour starts again in Qassiarsuk, where you begin the day by following the dirt road that
leads to the southeast. At first, the road is wide and relatively flat, allowing you to warm up
and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. As you move further away from the village, the
terrain begins to change, with small hills and winding paths demanding your attention.
You'll pass several farms and get a glimpse of local life, where flocks of sheep and groups
of horses graze peacefully in the green meadows. Along the way, you'll cross several small
streams and rivers, adding an element of adventure to the ride. The roads can be
challenging, but the stunning views of the fjords and surrounding mountains make it all
worthwhile.
After a few hours of riding, the trails start to get more technical with more rocks and roots
that require precision and skill. You'll cycle up a series of steep climbs, where you'll be
rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the dramatic landscape.
Distance: Ca. 35 km
Time: 5-7 hours
Terrain: A mix of gravel roads, trails, technical sections and hilly terrain. The tour is
suitable for intermediate cyclists looking for a challenge and spectacular nature
experiences.
Day 5: Boat trip to the Qooqqut Ice Sheet
We sail from Qassiarsuk to the underwater moraine at the mouth of the Qooqqut fjord.
Here, many of the large icebergs run aground, and we sail close past them to get through
and into the Qooqqut Fjord. Inside, a fantastic view reveals itself: thousands of icebergs,
steep rock walls and at the bottom of the fjord the large ice sheet. The ice sheet releases
no less than 200,000 tons of ice per day! Many of these icebergs have the most beautiful
turquoise colours. Inside the Qooqqut fjord we enjoy the view, the engine is stopped, and
we drift with the current. The silence is "noisy", only interrupted by the crunching and
crashing sounds of the many icebergs as they rotate and break into smaller pieces. A sight
and an experience that cannot be greater. During the trip, we collect ice cream and enjoy a
drink with the tinkling sound of thousand-year-old air bubbles popping into the glass.
Duration: 1.30-3 hours
Day 6: Tour to Itilleq by boat and bike from Itilleq to Igaliku.
The day starts with a scenic boat ride from Qassiarsuk to Itilleq (20min). Igaliku is one of
the most beautiful and historic settlements in Greenland. The boat trip takes you through
the fantastic Erik's Fjord and past impressive icebergs.
The bike ride from Itilleq to Igaliku is about 4 km long, but we take a detour that offers a
spectacular nature experience. The terrain is varied, with both flat stretches and smaller
hills, and along the way you will have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic views of the
fjords and the surrounding mountains.
When you arrive in Igaliku, you will be greeted by a picturesque settlement with colourful
houses and a rich history. Igaliku is known for its role as an important Viking settlement
and for housing Greenlands first bishopric. You can explore the ancient ruins and learn
more about the settlements exciting past. There will also be time to wander around the
lush surroundings and perhaps take a short break at one of the idyllic lakes.
After exploring Igaliku and enjoying a well-deserved lunch, the tour heads back to Itilleq,
again by bike, where we end the day with a relaxing boat ride back to our starting point.

Day 7: After a good nights sleep, it's time for another exciting adventure. We sail from Qassiarsuk
to Narsaq, a town located on the coast with stunning views of Erik's Fjord and icebergs.
The boat trip takes about 1 hour and offers an abundance of scenic sceneries.
On arrival in Narsaq, we get on our bikes and embark on an exciting bike ride through the
town and on towards Kvanefjeldet. The bike ride is approximately 25-30 km long and takes
us through varied terrain ranging from flat stretches to challenging hills. Along the way, we
will stop to admire the breathtaking landscapes that combine lush valleys with dramatic
mountain formations.
Kvanefjeld, known for its rich mineral deposits that the whole world has probably heard of,
is our destination, where we take the time to enjoy the surrounding nature and maybe
even spot some of the local wildlife. After a break and lunch at the towns local café, we
cycle back to the harbour, where we end the day with another lovely boat trip back to
Qassiarsuk.
Day 8. Departure day.
After a week filled with countless experiences and adventures, it is now time to return to
home. We start the day with a last joint breakfast in Qassiarsuk, where we share
memories and photos from the trip. Then the return journey begins, which marks the end
of an unforgettable journey through Greenlands scenic landscapes and historical sites.

Riding Greenland is a small company operating from Qassiarsuk (South Greenland). The
owners are Piitaq & Naasu Lund, who run the sheep farm Inneruulalik. We started Riding
Greenland in 2015 with a main product about horse riding in a package tour in our area.
Since then, the package tour has become more and more popular, and we have thus
developed the company. We also believe that our area is suitable for e-mtb tours. That's
